2024 has witnessed several box office successes and now that it is close to completion, the industry will soon have a new champion. These are not our words, but the stats of Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ incident. After having a massive opening with a collection of Rs 174.9 crore in India across all languages, the movie continues its dream run at the box office by raking in Rs 90.10 net in India on day 2, according to Sacnilk report.
Within two days, in India alone, the movie has made a business of Rs.265 crore (net), and as per the Sacnilk report, ‘Pushpa 2’ has crossed the Rs 400 crore gross mark worldwide. These numbers stand as a testament to the fan base that the beloved bunny has created for himself over the years and the frenzy for the franchise.
This pan-India movie has been released in multiple languages and each of them saw a good occupancy percentage on day 2. In Telugu, the movie witnessed an overall occupancy of 53%, and in Hindi it was 51.65%. Further, Tamil saw 38.52% occupancy, Kannada - 35.97%, Malayalam - 27.30%. On the other hand, in Hindi (ICE) occupancy in theaters on day 2 was 49.50% and 100% in 3D.
If the movie continues to move ahead at the same pace, it will not be long before it breaks records over the weekend. As of now, the trade analysts have reported that the movie is heading to cross Rs 550 crore.
With ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ the makers pick up the story right from where it ended in 2021. Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj and he shows the journey of a red sandalwood smuggler who came from nothing and then became the king of the industry. The Sukumar directorial navigates escalating challenges that Pushpa faces.
In the second installment, Fahadh Faasil returns as the menacing SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Netizens believe the movie would have lost the charm without him. However, several fans believe Fahadh has been underutilized this time. On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as Srivalli, leaving everyone in awe. Further, Jagapathi Babu comes in as a new addition, offering an extra layer of intrigue.
